Title: The Landhaus

Brandy always wanted to see Austria. As an architect, it held some of the most divine creations, whose majesty she wanted to take in with her naked eye. Joel wanted to visit Austria because, as a landscape artist, he could memorialize the greenest greens, bluest waters, and most captivating mountains awaiting capture in vibrant oils.

But the hike that Joel had made her endure wasn't exactly what she had in mind. Sure, they’d seen some beautiful scenery and incredible buildings, but her feet felt like a goblin was living in her shoes, biting her feet with each step. Her legs were fatigued and rubbery. The sun had been sweltering, though the clouds that coasted in were a God-send, offering a modicum of relief.

Brandy was loath to complain, she knew that Joel meant well. He was so excited for whatever it was that he wanted her to see at the end of the journey. Finally, rounding the corner, it was clear they came upon it. The most gorgeous building came into view. Italian Renaissance was her favorite style of all old European buildings. This particular one, the Landhaus, was highly regarded as a masterpiece.

Its many strong pillars, with intermingling arches, crafted to form walkways along each of the stories, and surrounded an impeccable stone courtyard. The lights throughout the walkways were warm and inviting as dusk descended.

Brandy was so caught up in gazing upon one of her favorite structures on her bucket list that she had no clue what Joel was doing. When she turned to point out the windows jutting out from the slants of the roof, he was on one knee, presenting a small box with a ring glinting in the menagerie of lights surrounding them. All of her pain was washed away with jubilant delight.
