Title: Unwavering Addiction
It’s been a part of me nearly my whole life. I can't help but think about it night and day. When I wake up, it's the first thing I crave. Throughout my work shifts, it's the source of my motivation. It's the only thing that gets me through.
Where did it start, you might ask? The first time, I was forced when I was young. Too young to know whether I even wanted it. It only took once. Something in my brain released and the rest of my life would be spent in search of it.
By the time I was in high school, it was simply my identity. My old childhood friends had mostly moved on,uninterested in going down that path with me. But, the thing about high school is that there's a clique for just about everybody. I found knew, likeminded friends that were into it as well. Not all were as driven by it as I was, but they could at least relate.
Somehow, I graduated high school despite making it a priority and neglecting my homework and studies. But college was never going to be a thing for me anyway. In school, it was readily available to me. But as an adult, I knew I'd have to be aggressive in seeking the object of my desire.
I managed to locate places where I could get it consistently. The obsession has driven me to want more and more. But now, I have soared to new heights and I find myself right here, right now on this stage. Living my dream on opening night, in a leading role, at the National Theatre of Szeged in Hungary. It's filling me again, the same adoration and applause which, from such a young age, has always fed this unwavering addiction.
